The weather has been getting colder lately and I can sense the changes in the air. Hope you are enjoying this autumn wind.

In HIGASHI-YAMA Tokyo, we are ready to serve full autumn taste with the freshest ingredients from all around Japan.

Nikujaga is back on our regular menu for the autumn / winter season. We are participating in the French wine fair "Journées du Vin", which is about 60 restaurants in Tokyo are participating in, starting from the 20th October.

This season's theme is "Bordeaux". We hope you can join us to enjoy its richness, which continues to fascinate wine lovers around the world, as one of the best wines.

Nikujaga is a typical dish of "Mother's taste" in Japan. This recommended dish of the month is arranged in the special style of HIGASHI-YAMA Tokyo. The tender beef round, cooked over three hours with potatoes, carrots and onions, in an earthenware pot. Enjoy its condensed umami of beef and natural rich sweetness of root vegetables.

Beverages recommending with niujaga

Tamagawa

Dry and sharp sake, Tamagawa from Tango, Kyoto, has a wide range of serving temperatures and it is not only good for a luxury nightcap, but it also goes very well with home cooked dinners. We recommend drinking it as tepid or warmed in autumn time with hot nikujaga.

LES PARCELLES de Stephane Derenoncourt BORDEAUX 2010 / BORDEAUX BLANC 2011

We are serving one red and one white from the brilliant collection of "Les Parcellles", exquisitely balanced wines are born with a careful selection of soils and sophisticated techniques. The red - well balanced fruitiness and fine wood aroma. The white - uplifting freshness with a grapefruit and citrusy aroma. Both are a great marriage with food.

[Seasonal cocktail] Sweet potato

HIGASHI-YAMA Tokyo original cocktail, using one of the sweetest sweet potatoes, Annou imo. Finely strained Annou imo with sake, milk and crystal sugar adds to its thick and creamy taste. It also makes an excellent dessert.
